Fishing News took out a couple of new Honda BF200's to test out the new upgrades from the previous series outboards.
"During our Hauraki Gulf run aboard the Marco and Seaboss rigs, the new BF200s proved well suited to the kind of mixed-use boating many New Zealand fishers demand – from long runs to offshore grounds and high-speed sprints between workups, to slow trolling passes along reef edges and gamefishing. The Marco we were aboard belongs to renowned angler Luke Davis, who routinely pushes his gear hard in pursuit of marlin, swordfish, tuna, kingfish, and snapper.
Throttle response was crisp and predictable, and the engines transitioned smoothly through the rev range. At cruising speeds, the V6s remained impressively quiet with minimal vibration transmitted through the hull, allowing conversation in the cockpit without raised voices – something that becomes increasingly appreciated over a full day chasing fish on the briny."
